We love to share our magical ranch with travelers who want to stop along their way between the Bay Area and LA. Or for those who want to come ride the beautiful trails and vineyards of the Central Coast.
AND, we re welcoming to campers passing by - whether it be in your RV or wanting to horse camp under the stars.
We also offer retirement boarding for those who want their aging partners to live out their lives in a gentle, loving. and caring environment.

A Home Away From Home
Need a spot to stop and relax? Bring your horses and LQ/RV and plug into one of many optional spots on the ranch. Stay a night or as long as you want. Your horse gets a stall with a turnout to stretch their legs, you get the peace and quiet of Gentle Winds.
We also offer a king bedroom if you don’t bring your own, or there are many hotels to choose from minutes away.

Retirement Boarding
We love our retired equines and care for them as if they were our own.
Each retiree receives Tender Loving Care, including 3 meals a day, large turnouts with double loafing sheds. We also have stalls with paddocks if you prefer.
Supplements, blankets, vetting and other services are also available.

Ride the Central Coast
We have trails and vineyards galore awaiting you! You can ride right off the ranch to one of our local vineyards. Or pack up and drive 10-15 minutes to ride in the beautiful Cass Vineyards, then have a beautiful lunch on their patio. Trails and the beach are options too. Stay in your LQ or horse camp under the stars.
If you head out to wine taste, we’ll be sure your horses get all the TLC they want and deserve.

Ranch Services
Overnight Visitors
You bring your feed (we don’t want to upset their tummies.) We feed and clean.
Stall in barn or large paddock $40/night
LQ or RV hookup $40/night
One bedroom with bath in Main House $100/night
Overnight dry camping with RV/no horses $25/night
Retirement Boarding
Large turnouts with sheds. We also offer barn stalls with paddocks if preferred.
- $300/month, boarder buys hay
- $500/month – we buy and handle all hay
Grain or supplements extra.
Includes:
We feed 3 meals with daily turnouts.
Blankets, supplements and custom services also available.
Vet and hay accounts (if you buy food) are requested for retired horses.
Traveling horses must be vaccinated and have a health certificate.

I’ve been riding since I was 3 years old. Horses have always been my passion and Im living my dream life here at Gentle Winds. I do the majority of lovin’ and caring for our precious equine guests. Anything you need, I’m here!

Doug Kuentzel, Co-Owner
Doug and his late wife Stephanie bred cutters at Gentle Winds for over 20 years. Doug is in the lead, caring for our ranch, all the mechanical needs and of course he is always happy to help out our equine and human guests.
